Chicken Day on Phase 3

Correction Day Series Part 2: Chicken Day

An ex-patient should never gain more than two pounds without immediately correcting this, but it is equally undesirable that more than two lbs. he lost after treatment, because a greater loss is always achieved at the expense of normal fat. Any normal fat that is lost is invariably regained as soon as more food is taken, and it often happens that this rebound overshoots the upper two lbs. limit. Pounds and Inches

This is very similar to the Steak Day but you are allowed to eat all day long.  Roast an entire chicken yourself.  Do not buy store bought as they may use sugar in their basting.

Eat both legs and thighs with skin on.  You can then eat on the chicken throughout the day as you are hungry even making chicken salad with mayo and sugar free relish.  Start with the dark meat and work your way into the white meat with the skin on.  This will give you the correct ratio of fats and protein.  General weight released is -1-2 lbs.

Recipe for Roasted Chicken:

  • 1 (5 to 6-pound) roasting chicken
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 large bunch fresh thyme
  • 4 lemons
  • 3 heads garlic, cut in 1/2 crosswise
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Remove the chicken giblets. Rinse the chicken inside and out. Remove any excess fat and leftover pinfeathers and pat the outside dry. Place the chicken in a large roasting pan. Liberally salt and pepper the inside of the chicken. Stuff the cavity with the thyme, reserving enough thyme to garnish the chicken dish, 1 lemon, halved, and 2 halves of the garlic. Brush the outside of the chicken with the butter and sprinkle again with salt and pepper. Tie the legs together with kitchen string and tuck the wing tips under the body of the chicken. Cut 2 of the lemons in quarters and scatter the quarters and remaining garlic around the chicken.

Roast the chicken for 1 hour.  Continue roasting the chicken for an additional 1/2 hour, or until the juices run clear when you cut between a leg and thigh.

      Shawna,

Tomorrow is my first phase 3 day (round 1). I cheated yesterday and was up .8 today. Should I make tomorrow (my first phase 3 day) an egg day? I should have probably done an apple day today but didn’t!

I'll try a Chicken day, so i roast 1 chicken and only eat that during the day?
    For example:
    Breakfast: Water, Tea, Coffee.
Luch: Half chicken with green salad (with mayo if i like)
Dinner: Half chicken with green salad.
And during the day: Water, Tea, Coffee.

    Would it be right?

Can you do a chicken day on Ph 2?

  6. Jenny Mcmasters on November 9, 2010 at 4:54 pm

The recipe calls for chicken stock, but in the directions there isn’t any instructions what to do with it…
I am thinking of trying it without chicken stock. Thank you for the egg day. I had great success with it!

    • Shawna Culp on November 9, 2010 at 5:34 pm

That is fine you can make it however you want 🙂 and that is great about the
      egg day!

I do so much better on your correction days, both the egg and the chicken, than I do with a steak day! Thanks so much for the great info!

what about this with a roasted turkey since we just had thanksgiving…would hate to waste the turkey but up 3lbs in 3 days so i need to do something and I cannot eat eggs because i’m allergic.

    • Anonymous on November 27, 2010 at 6:24 pm

Although not as good as chicken, doing turkey will be fine and you should still see a loss.

Do you do a correction day if it is a gain from your TOM? I had a 1.8lb gain yesterday that put me above my LDW but it was from TOM. I tried a chicken day and did not lose anything. Should I try another correction day or wait and see what happens when TOM is finished?

Help!!! I am on Phase 3- DAy 10. I was away over the holiday weekend and i gained 5lbs I ate sugar and starches Im so upset with myself. Should I do 2 correction days and which day would be the best to do (steak, chicken, egg) since I messed up so bad.

    • Shawna Culp on December 28, 2010 at 3:41 pm

      Hi Bridget:

You should be able to correct this quickly. Take it one day at a time. Do a correction day and the. Eat clean and bring your calories down by a few hundred per day for a few days and skip cheese. Let me know tomorrow. I don’t recommend two correction days in a row but after a few days of eating less calories and eliminating dairy it should correct itself.

      Thanks

Hi I am 10lbs over my last injection. can I do an egg day and then a chicken day?

        • Shawna Culp on November 1, 2011 at 4:25 pm

Do not do back to back correction days.. do one or the other then eat clean for a week and try and bring it down

I am struggling a lot on phase 3 (I’m on day 8) and have already had to do several steak days. I tried an egg day and lost nothing. The steak days have worked great, but I’m pretty “steaked” out and it’s so hard to go all day without eating. I did a chicken day today, however, it’s all my TOM since I’m afraid I won’t see good results. I’m 4 lbs. Over my LIW. I can’t seem to go more than a day or two without needing a steak day. I know this isn’t normal. Any suggestions? I wonder what would happen if I had a salad with Walden Farms dressing (no fat/calories/sugar/carbs/gluten) for lunch during steak day. Does anyone have experience with this?

    • Anonymous on December 29, 2010 at 1:16 pm

Have you seen my latest vlog on P3 and your LDW? This may be worth watching. I’ve had a lot of people contact me who have a story just like yous and what I discuss in the vlog is right on for them, so maybe it will help you too.

I am not a fan of most of Waldon Farms dressing as they have hidden sugars.

      • Jennybean1 on December 29, 2010 at 9:03 pm

Thank you!! Chicken day worked out wonderfully for me. I lost 2.3 lbs. since yesterday and it was so much easier (and tastier) than the steak day. I haven’t seen your vlog on P3, but would love to check it out. Could you send me the link or advise where I can find that? I am right on the cusp of my two pound limit now so I plan on doing another chicken day tomorrow. I am hoping in another week or two my weight will start to stabilize. I also started back on my gym regimen yesterday, so hopefully that will help. I have been good about no sugars/starches, however the more I research, I find different things about eating too much dairy, too much/not enough of certain fruits so it is hard to figure out what I am doing wrong.

Is salad ok on chicken days? What about any vegetables? Fruits?

    • Shawna Culp on February 26, 2011 at 12:06 am

For a correction day you will need to just have chicken.. 🙂

    […] CHICKEN DAY: […]

  14. Kdshelley5 on March 20, 2011 at 12:09 pm

I am doing a Chicken day today for the first time. I reallty want to be at my LDW. I think I have a new LDW as mentioned in your vblog. I was 152.8 on my LDW but I was protien deficient during phase 2 and had to get assistance at the a time from a maintenance expert and it got me through, but a day or two before and a day or two after my LDW I was 154.8 and I kept coming back to that even after phase 3. then after looking at your vblog I came to understand that I probably have a new LDW 154.8. so far it has been great, but I’m doing a chicken day today becuase I am over my 2lb limit by .2 so I am hoping to get back to my LDW. I will keep you posted.!!!! If this doesen’t take me down I will do a few days eating phase 2 foods.

I am in Phase 2 got off track this weekend up 3lbs this morning. Would I do an egg, steak, chicken correction day?

  16. Tperry1976 on May 3, 2011 at 1:23 pm

The directions don’t say what to do with the chicken stock. Do you just pour it over everything, I assume? And do you roast this covered or uncovered? Thanks!

    • Anonymous on May 3, 2011 at 2:40 pm

You would pour over the chicken, let it sit on the bottom and then use it for basting. I would leave covered until the last 12 – 15 minutes.

    • Shawna Culp on May 31, 2011 at 4:04 pm

you do not have to use lemon if you do not like it. 🙂

i did the math and the chicken day is about 5000 calories, does this make sense? that you would lose weight?

      • Shawna Culp on November 9, 2011 at 10:25 pm

if you roast a whole normal size chicken its about 1500 cal.. 2000 if you ate every morsel.. where are you getting your numbers? if you are doing weight you need to remember your whole chicken is bone in and that weight is included in your ounces weighed but not what you are consuming

  20. Brittney on March 21, 2012 at 7:44 pm

Can I have an apple on an egg day, like the steak and chicken days?

  21. Helenawilli on August 14, 2012 at 2:33 pm

Can you do a chicken during the first week of phase 3, my concern is the butter?

    • Shawna Culp on August 14, 2012 at 2:37 pm

yes and you can add back in butter first week. it is a healthy fat 🙂
