I love my canned coconut milk, but I do mix it with water or coconut water. Canned milk has a lot less additives than the So Delicious brand. In the manufacturing process of So Delicious the original vitamins and minerals have been taken out and synthetic vitamins and minerals added into it, so it doesn't have as many nutritional benefits as they claim. Synthetic nutrients are not recognized by your body the same way nutrients from real foods are so to me it's one of those packaged foods that pretend to be whole :(

Packaged foods are convenience foods and don't pretend to be whole foods. Coconuts do not contain vitamin B12 or vitamin D. (No food contains vitamin D, because it's a hormone, not really a vitamin.) But lots of people are vitamin D deficient, and so they need to get it in the form of supplementation, particularly during the winter months. Since I would never think of going near cow's milk with all of its hormones and other health-damaging attributes, and canned coconut milk is far too high in calories and overpowering in flavor to be used as a milk substitute, I appreciate the many nutritional benefits and pleasing taste of products like So Delicious Coconut Milk. The unsweetened has only 50 calories per serving, and that's a real bonus.
