Here are a few teas you can make to include this amazing spice. The teas are chock full of amazing health benefits. Not only can they boost your energy, strengthen your immune, and aid in weight loss.
Drink a cup in the morning to help improve digestion and metabolism all day long.
Turmeric Tea (Base Recipe):
- 8 oz filtered water
- 2 tablespoons of turmeric powder
Boil some water and let it cool for 2-3 minutes before adding turmeric. (adding add turmeric to a boiling water may reduce health benefits of turmeric) Add turmeric powder and let it sit for a couple of minutes.
Add to steeped tea of choice (green, matcha, peppermint, cinnamon, etc.) Try yerba mate for weight loss.
Morning Turmeric Tea
- 6 cups water
- 1 large chunk fresh ginger, sliced/chopped
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric (or fresh)
- Juice of 6 fresh lemons
- Raw honey
Bring water to a boil then add ginger pieces. Let simmer for approximately 10 minutes. Add the cinnamon sticks and turmeric and simmer on low heat for about 12-15 minutes. Remove from heat, allow to cool then strain.
Add freshly squeezed lemon juice, and sweeten with raw honey if desired. Store any left over tea in a glass container in the fridge for up to a week.
Detox Turmeric Tea
- 1/2″ ginger, chopped or grated (or 1/4 tsp ground)
- 1/2″ turmeric (or 1/4 tsp ground)
- 1/2 tsp. Ceylon cinnamon
- 2 tbsp. Lemon juice
- 8 oz. water
- Pure honey, if desired
Boil the ginger and turmeric with water for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and strain the water into a teacup or mug. Stir in turmeric and lemon juice and drink it right away for best results.
Works best to drink about 1 hour before breakfast. You can also drink before bedtime as this tea will help improve your sleep.
Belly-Buster Turmeric Tea
- 8 oz filtered water, warm
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- 2-3 sprinkles of freshly cracked black pepper
- A small dash of cayenne pepper
- 1/2 lemon, juice squeezed
- 1 teaspoon MCT oil
- 1 teaspoon pure raw honey
Combine the spices in the warm water to stir and mix. Squeeze in the lemon juice and stir in the raw honey to taste.
Ginger Cinnamon Turmeric Tea
- 2 cups water
- 1 large thumb of ginger, peeled and grated
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp turmeric, or fresh
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- A pinch of black pepper
- 2 tbsp pure honey or other sweetener such as monk fruit sweetener
Add all ingredients into pan and heat for about 4 minutes until you can see steam rising out of the pan. Whisk occasionally to help cinnamon & turmeric dissolve. Remove from heat and strain to remove any leftover ginger/turmeric bits.
