Shrimp provides nutrients such as vitamin B12, vitamin E, niacin and omega-3 fatty acids. Shrimp is also low in saturated fat making it a great dish to lose weight.

P2 Garlic Shrimp

100g shrimp (peeled & deveined)

4-6 cloves minced garlic

2 Tbs chicken broth or 2 Tbs MCT oil

Himalayan Pink Salt and pepper, to taste

Chopped basil

Heat nonstick pan over MED-HI heat. Mix of the broth with pepper, minced garlic, and other spices. Add to pan.
Cook less than a minute. Be sure not to burn the garlic. Add shrimp. Cook 3 minutes. Top with basil and serve.

Grilling instructions:

Preheat the grill to medium.
Grill shrimp for three to five minutes, until pink and curled. Be careful not to overcook. Larger shrimp take longer than smaller ones, of course! While cooking, baste shrimp with mix from above.

Question of the Week- Avoid sweeteners when dining out!

What sweeteners you should NOT grab for when dining out

Sugar – Refined sugar goes into the bloodstream and upsets the body’s blood-sugar balance, triggering the release of insulin. Insulin which the body uses to keep blood-sugar at a constant and safe level. Insulin also promotes the storage of fat, so that when you eat sweets high in sugar, you’re making way for rapid weight gain.

Splenda – Read our post on Splenda (Click Here) Contains: Dextrose, Maltodextrin and Sucralose

Sweet ‘N Low -Contains: Dextrose, Saccarin

Equal / Nutrasweet- Contains: Dextrose with Melodextrin, aspartame

A little about these ingredients:
Saccharin – Although not solidly proven, this sweetener has been thought to cause cancer. Reported reactions include wheezing, nausea, diarrhea, tongue blisters, tachycardia, fixed eruptions, headache, diuresis, and sensory neuropathy.

Maltodextrin – It is produced from rice, potato or corn starch. It is known to contain MSG and it doesn’t need to state that on the ingredient label. It is also known to affect blood sugar levels and cause tooth decay. You will find this additive in sugar packets as well as in sugar free jello, crystal light …

Dextrose – A GMO (Gentically Modified Organism) ingredient made from plant starch (Usually corn starch).

Aspartame – This harmful ingredient breaks down into phenylalanine when it is ingested and metabolized. Phenylalanine causes excessive action of neurons in the brain and it kills cells. Research has shown that too much phenylalanine can trigger Attention Deficit Disorder, Hyperactive Disorder, as well as emotional and behavioral disorders.

Melba toast may contain dextrose and/or maltodextrin. These are both on the hidden sugar list. Your ingredients should be flour, water and salt. Many are stalling or gaining when using this product. I recommend making your own grissini or buying it locally and completely avoiding Melba Toast.

Some stevia brands also have maltodextrin or sugar alcohols. You have to read your labels. Sweet Leaf is a good stevia-only sweetener in the granular form. You can order a healthy stevia product here.

When taking supplements, you need to check every label for maltodextrin and dextrose and any of the other sugars on the list above. There are so many low end vitamins and supplements that use these sweeteners as fillers. Little Choices Matter offers a line of pure and reliable supplements.

Check every label of everything you use. If you are stalling or gaining it is likely one of these are the cause.

64 oz. Pure Organic Apple Juice (no added ingredients)

1/2 C. Apple Cider Vinegar

1/2 tsp. Liquid Stevia (plain or flavored – grape is good)

Mix all together and drink 1 8 oz glass before meals. Store in refrigerator.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and weight loss health benefits have been a topic of conversation for decades. This is a completely natural way to shed pounds and is a tried and true home remedy that is used all over the globe. ACV stimulates the metabolism and cleansing of the internal organs. It is also very powerful in helping release stored fat cells. ACV is a completely natural product, resulting from the fermentation of apple juice to hard apple cider followed by a second fermentation to apple cider vinegar. However, make sure you use Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. Many commercial products have been pasteurized, filtered, refined or distilled in order to make the product more appealing to the general public. These extra processing steps destroy many of the vitamins, nutrients and fermentation products that are thought to be important elements in apple cider vinegar’s health benefits and weight loss properties. Mix one tablespoon of ACV diluted in water before each meal. Some don’t like the taste, so you can mix with Stevia or a little lemon juice. Use ACV as your liquid while cooking or sprinkle over your vegetables and salads.
